Journal, cash book and other subsidiary books are the basic books of account ledgers. All the accounts in the ledger book are made from journal, cash book and subsidiary books by posting the entry.
Main rules of posting are
1. # We record all the transactions relating to a particular account in one place. It means, if we are the journal entries relating to Sham Account, we will open only one sham account and will post all journal entries in the sham account.
2. # We will use the word "To" for adding the accounts in the debit side of a particular account. We will use the word "By" for adding the accounts in the credit side of a particular account.
3. # If any account will come in the debit side of any journal entry, we will show the other account in same account's debit side in the posting.
4. # If any account will come in the credit side of any journal entry, we will show the other account in same account's credit side in the posting to the ledger account.
